Mäpt Trērg-prajk (/træ̝rg/ /prajk/ [dark] [surf]) is a temperate Town located in the Whïzdisg Principality of the City-state of Yastas.

The name Mäpt Trērg-prajk is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt Trērg-prajk was founded by Sarcotor vyim Yuvnoirdirn, who was culturaly Gnollish.

Climate

Mäpt Trērg-prajk has a yearly average temperature of 1°C (33°F), with its average temperature during the summer being an icy 24°C (75°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a freezing -22°C (-7°F). Mäpt Trērg-prajk receives an average of 106 cm/y (41 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Mäpt Trērg-prajk covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 6090 m (19980 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Mäpt Trērg-prajk was founded durring the early 14th century in spring of the year 1306, by Sarcotor vyim Yuvnoirdirn. The establishment of Mäpt Trērg-prajk was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Sarcotor vyim Yuvnoirdirn electing to pay people to resettle in Mäpt Trērg-prajk.

Mäpt Trērg-prajk was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Trērg-prajk is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Mäpt Trērg-prajk is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of restrictive split-log ties streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town is the proud owner of a thick set of fortified walls fashioned from querried stone blocks. While not up to snuff for a fort or castle wall, the town's walls are naturaly much larger than those of forts or castles. Therefore, the construction such a wall is most expencive. Mäpt Trērg-prajk's buget focused wall would serve its community well in battle in spite of looking unimpressive compared to castles and fortresses. The town's top tier civilian fortifications have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

A quick look in any direction shows Mäpt Trērg-prajk is filled with vices. There are many taverns, brothels are advertising their services on the streets, cardsharks are plying their illicit trade within public squairs, and every shop has at least three signs advertising various sales on goods. That alone wouldn’t be too noticeable, if it wasn’t just so omnipresent and overwhelmingly how the people of this town live.

Civic Infrastructure

Cultural Notes

Mäpt Trērg-prajk's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..
